Burn Permit

Below is the link for applying for a Benton County burn permit. Before filling out the form, please read through the rules and information for safely burning your material.

Burning Information

  • The burning of agriculture clearing and yard waste is permitted and recommended only during daylight hours. All other items are prohibited under penalty of law.
  • Check your local weather before and during burning.
  • The minimum required distances from structures while burning are:
    • Open Burning = 50’
    • Burn Pile that is no more than 3’ in diameter and 2’ high = 25’
    • Approved container = 15’
  • During burning you must have a means of extinguishing the fire such as; a portable fire extinguisher (4-A rated min.), a connected water hose or other water source, a shovel & dirt, or sand.
  • Stay with the fire until it is out and call 911 if you have any problems.

    Open Burning

    It is a violation of State Law to openly burn any item not specifically exempted. Notify the county BEFORE burning. For a burn permit, please call 479-273-5530.
