Veteran Information
A veteran with Total and Permanent disability shall be exempt from payment of all county taxes on the homestead and personal property.
A.C.A. 26-3-306
A Summary of Benefits letter is required to be submitted only one (1) time to establish eligibility for the exemption provided under A.C.A. 26-3-306.
A taxpayer who has previously submitted a letter shall notify the county collector if:
- There has been a legal change in the status of the taxpayer, and the taxpayer no long qualifies for the exemption.
- There is a change in the property description, ownership, use, or occupancy of the property for which the taxpayer claimed an exemption.
- A taxpayer claiming an exemption under this section who changes his or her homestead shall submit a new letter to the county collector of the county in which the new homestead is located.
A surviving spouse of a veteran who died from service-connected causes is or would be entitled to department benefits in the form of death indemnity compensation.
All surviving spouses must have their NOTARIZED affidavit and Summary of Benefits in our office no later than December 31 of each year. If we do not receive the affidavit, we will not be able to exempt your taxes for the following year. You may download the affidavit below.
